Jen and Chris

Owners|Yoga|Pilates|Breathwork|Fire&Ice

Jen heads up the awesome R1SE team as co-owner with hubby Chris. She loves yoga and started practising when she was pregnant with her first of three kids. It's a time for her and her mat to enjoy each others company and express herself through movement which feels flipping awesome!

Chris is a proud husband, father, and Sheffield University alum, embodies resilience and transformation. Recently, Chris has delved into the transformative world of cold therapy and breathwork. Eager to share these beneficial practices, he is constantly evolving the R1SE experience.

Chris's story is proof that it's never too late to redefine your path, and his journey continues to inspire others to find their own R1SE moment.

Rosie (The OG)

Yoga|Pilates|Music|Programming

For Rosie yoga is all about the fun, great vibes, great music and having a laugh. Her number one aim always is for students to leave with a smile on their face. With a background in Pilates as well as yoga, she's all about functional movement to help support healthy alignment and posture in the body - think abs, glutes, upper back! Off the mat, Rosie loves dancing, sweat and exercise in general, climbing, running and The Peaks. Apart from sit-ups and planking, her one true love is ice cream.

Anna

Yoga|Front Desk

Anna's yoga journey began at our first R1SE location in Krynkl in 2019. Since then, yoga and her mat, have become her "safe space" through any metaphorical and literal storm! As such Anna says it's a dream to be able to now also provide that space for others; to tune into their bodies, breath and heartbeat, and out of their head. She likes to keep classes focused on these elements to create a container of safety, strength and support; allowing people to connect and bring these qualities into their everyday lives, feeling more confident and secure in themselves and able to take on the world!

Ashton

Yoga|PT|Pilates

Ashton is a big fan of fusing many different training methods together and using unconventional movements to spice up a training session. She firmly believe that fun is the first priority when exercising and then fitness and strength will undoubtedly follow. Her background and main interests include: capoeira, yoga, weights and running. But she'll give anything a go! More recently her time has been focused on the arrival of her newborn son.

Motto: Movement is a delicious dish, made from all sorts of tasty ingredients.

Alice

Yoga|Spa Facilitator

Alice has been practising yoga for about 5 years & completed her 200 hours teacher training in Rishikesh, India 2023. A year later she gave up the day job of being a Primary School Teacher, she became a full time yogi & hasn't looked back!
Between teaching yoga at R1SE Kelham, you can find her wandering in the Peak, climbing with her pals or converting her campervan!
You can join Alice on Tuesdays at Kelham for Flow, Sculpt and Chill & Thursdays at Kelham for Flow and Fusion.

Doris

Yoga|PT|Pilates

Doris has always loved strength trained in the gym but in 2018 she tried yoga and loved it. She reckons it feels great to move your body in so many different ways, to mobilise all your joints and flow with your breath. She loves teaching fast paced classes like Power and Sculpt, and really enjoys the control and strength you get from Pilates. Doris also works as a personal trainer. When she's not in the gym or the studio she does lots of sourdough bread baking, wild swimming and napping with my cats.

Gaynor

Yoga|Yin

Gaynor came to Yoga quite late on, and wishes the wonders of Yoga would have been revealed to her sooner.  Yoga is the best thing you can do for your body and mind. It’s the gift you should give to yourself every day. Through her practice she came to discover Yin and realised that’s where it’s at! Regular Yin Yoga can ease aches and pains in your joints, increase flexibility, calm the body and soothe our cardiac and nervous systems by safely stressing, lengthening and hydrating your deep tissues during the time in the pose. If students leave the class relaxed, restored and like they have had a long, warm hug, she's will be happy. When she's not practicing yoga she makes and decorate cakes (for both humans and Doggies!) and has an addiction to travelling and sunshine.

Gosia

Yoga|Nutrition

Gosia's yoga journey started with her inner quest to find a balance between her body and mind and tune it with mother nature. In her early 20’s she suffered from an eating disorder and tried various methods to treat and heal her body but without any success. She came across a book about vegan raw food and decided to explore this lifestyle.  She found that the more healthy, whole and natural her food became the more spiritual and lively she felt. She started her asana practice in 2017 when she was 36 years old and truly believes that her healthy lifestyle is the main reason her body is able to gain so much strength and flexibility. She hopes to inspire those who want to live a healthy and vibrant life.

Gosia's classes tend to be hard as she likes to bring you to the edges of your comfort zone so you can learn more about your capacity to move beyond doubt, fear, and distraction of the mind.

Kate

Yoga

Kate first began practicing yoga as a last resort to combat her chronic pain. She started
practicing yoga while looking for answers in modern pain science and psychology. What she
found was profound. By applying modern pain science to the practice of yoga, meditation, and
expressive writing, the pain began to heal. From that moment on she was hooked, deciding to put her energy towards the service of others through yoga, so that they may benefit from its teachings as she has. Kate teaches yoga as a celebration of body and the self, creating spaces where yoga is a
welcoming and inclusive space for all. Her classes explore movement, breath, and stillness, to connect to the self, recognise your capacity, and cultivate a deeper sense of self-love. Her teaching is based in the belief that nothing needs to be changed or fixed, you already have everything you need.

Lucy F

Yoga

Lucy's journey with yoga started in 2018 when she started practicing purely as a form of exercise, but little did I know what else it would open up for her. She has become much stronger, not just in body, but also in mind as yoga helps you develop coping strategies both on and off the mat. She is continuously amazed by what her body and mind can achieve in this life. The sense of community you feel from a regular practice from mixing with like minded people is something which leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.
We are the same, you and I.

Lucy K

Pilates|Barre|Physiotherapy

A Physiotherapist by day and Pilates instructor by night, working closely with clients of all physical abilities she loves to combine functional elements of normal movement patterns into teaching Pilates as a class. She enjoys seeing people achieving their goals whatever their ability; all whilst having fun.  Over lockdown, she discovered a new type of Bar - she still enjoys the other kind - she loves music and discovered Barre practice is as much about finding upbeat songs to give a club-like feel all whilst exercising-bonus. It’s intense, fast paced and gets your heart racing.
Special interests; Yoga, dogs, seals, food, coffee, gin, Ibiza

Sarah B

Yoga

Always on the lookout for laughter, a killer playlist and a new adventure. Sarah loves creating whether it’s a new sequence, recipe or just chaos in general and she has an unending love for travel and learning something new (next stop aerial training). Things that hold her feet firmly on the ground are her 3 fur babes (the line where the whippets end and Sarah starts is often blurry) and her daily yoga practice. That and her totally perfectly dysfunctional r1se yoga family. You can find Sarah on the mat at r1se on Thursdays with chill, pregnancy and vinyasa. When she's not throwing yoga shapes she's lighting up your visit to Brook Place on reception.

Sarah C

Yoga

Having tried every fitness class under the sun, a friend convinced me to give hot yoga a go. I was instantly hooked. The heat, the strength, the community. Yoga gave me a newfound respect and love for my body and silenced the chatter in my head for the first time in my life. Yoga for me is about constantly challenging yourself, learning, evolving and perfecting. Appreciating your body, finding the joy in movement and play! In real life I’m a part time English teacher so I spend 3 days a week trying to convince Rotherham teenagers that Shakespeare/poetry/reading is cool. I know all the best places for cake in Sheffield. The rest of the time I can be found tramping round Forge Dam with two small children and a dog 😊

Sarah P

Yoga

Sarah's been doing yoga for as long as she can remember, she would join in with her mum doing morning sun salutations to start the day! She developed her own practice a bit more when she went to uni, and have continued since then. For Sarah it’s the perfect combination of movement, mindfulness and spirituality. It looks and feels different for everyone, but that’s really the beauty of it.

Rosie B

Yoga

Rosie's passion for yoga was ignited in her early teens, with it soon becoming her essential wellness practice. She qualified as a hatha and vinyasa yoga teacher in 2021 and has since completed additional postnatal yoga teacher training alongside her full-time role as a Neuro Occupational Therapist in London. She completed her Master’s degree in Clinical Neuroscience in 2023 and relocated to Sheffield where she is now working towards her PhD. Her training and professional background mean the nervous system and functional anatomy are at the heart of how she teaches.
